European ETF market trends and index adjustments
Overview
The European exchange-traded fund (ETF) market has seen activity involving specific fund launches and index adjustments. Initial reports highlighted the Franklin FTSE Emerging Markets UCITS ETF and the Vanguard FTSE Eurozone UCITS ETF.
Recent developments show continued momentum for the VanEck Developed Markets Dividend Leaders ETF, which announced a distribution of 0.36 Euro per share with a payment date of September 10. The fund’s total volume has reached 9.4 billion Euro. Additionally, Vanguard’s FTSE All-World UCITS ETF experienced significant interest, with estimated inflows of 863.3 million Euro into its accumulating share class during the week ending August 24.
Asset managers are also expanding their product suites. Vanguard has launched three new low-cost UCITS ETFs—the FTSE Global All-Cap, FTSE Global Small-Cap, and FTSE All-World ex-U.S.—listed across several major European exchanges. Invesco has introduced the All Country World Enhanced Equity UCITS ETF, an actively managed “index-plus” product utilizing a quantitative model to target outperformance of the MSCI ACWI.
Furthermore, FTSE Russell has confirmed quarterly index adjustments. On September 21, ten Indian companies, including Infosys and Bharti Airtel, will be added to the FTSE Emerging Markets All Cap Index. Concurrently, Philippine companies BPI and SM Prime will be reclassified from large-cap to mid-cap status, impacting the weighting of market-cap-tracking funds.
