European football club financial performance

Overview

Manchester United and Inter Milan reported positive financial results for the 2025/26 fiscal period.

Manchester United achieved record revenues of £677.6 million, a 1.7% increase from the prior year, alongside operating profits of £22.6 million. CEO Omar Berrada attributed the performance to the club’s “underlying business strength” despite a lack of European football, noting that cost-cutting measures and improved Premier League standing aided stability.

Inter Milan also reported a successful year with a net profit of €22.7 million, marking its second consecutive year of profit under the management of investment fund Oaktree. This follows a €35 million profit in the 2024/25 season, which was bolstered by extraordinary revenues from a Champions League final appearance and the FIFA Club World Cup.

Despite the absence of those specific extraordinary European revenues, Inter Milan reached total revenues of €518 million, the second-highest in its history. Growth was driven by a 7% rise in commercial income—supported by a new merchandising partnership with Fanatics—and an €11 million increase in player trading revenue. The club also reduced production costs by approximately €20 million and lowered financial expenses by roughly €19 million following a debt refinancing operation. Consequently, the club returned its net equity to a positive position of €10.4 million, recovering from a negative €12 million reported at the close of the 2024/25 period.
