As the summer transfer window closes, RSC Anderlecht has finalized several key moves to address squad needs. Following coach Vitor Bruno’s previous indications regarding the search for defensive and midfield reinforcements, the club has secured Irish international defender Andrew Omobamidele on loan from RC Strasbourg. Omobamidele, who previously played for Norwich City and Nottingham Forest, arrives to provide international experience to the Brussels-based side for the remainder of the season.

In midfield, Anderlecht successfully completed the loan of Norwegian attacking midfielder Thelo Aasgaard from Rangers FC until the end of the season, a deal that includes an option to buy. This acquisition follows the club’s unsuccessful attempts to sign Santi García from Gil Vicente. To further bolster the center of the pitch, the club also secured Ivorian midfielder Roméo Amane from Rapid Wien. Recent reports indicate the club is also working to finalize the signing of Greek midfielder Ilias Koutsoupias from Frosinone. Coach Vitor Bruno noted that these reinforcements were necessary to address gaps in the central midfield area and to compensate for the departure of Nathan-Dylan Saliba.

Despite these additions, the club faces internal challenges; Bruno has expressed frustration regarding midfielder Mario Stroeykens, stating that while he recognizes the player’s “high potential,” he has struggled to elicit the best performance from him. Furthermore, the team has experienced inconsistent form in the Jupiler Pro League following their involvement in UEFA Europa League qualifying rounds.

In the Netherlands, the transfer window has officially closed. FC Twente completed 24 squad changes under technical director Erik ten Hag, highlighted by the acquisition of Wout Weghorst. Additionally, PEC Zwolle secured a last-minute loan for Filip Krastev. In the Belgian Jupiler Pro League, Royal Antwerp has also been active, completing the loan of Belgian midfielder Arthur Vermeeren from RB Leipzig.
