The excursion used the UNESCO World Heritage site Zeche Zollverein and other local landmarks to teach French students about the area’s shift from coal mining to a diversified economy. The narrative emphasized the site’s historical significance, including wartime labor and a 1941 mining accident, and illustrated how former industrial infrastructure now serves educational and cultural purposes.
