The Rally Ceredigion in Wales, a round of the European Rally Championship, concluded with Kris Meeke securing victory in a Toyota GR Yaris Rally2. Meeke finished with a 38.6-second lead over Teemu Suninen, who drove a Škoda Fabia RS Rally2. This marked Meeke’s first ERC win and his first rally victory in Britain since 2007. Despite the second-place finish at this event, Suninen and co-driver Antti Haapala successfully secured the 2026 FIA European Rally Championship title with one round to spare. Suninen’s final stages were marked by difficulties, including two spins and a coolant leak on Sunday, but he maintained sufficient positioning to clinch the championship, becoming the first Finn to win the absolute European title since 2014. Following the achievement, Suninen expressed hope that the title will facilitate a return to the top-tier World Rally Championship (WRC) next season. Miko Marczyk and Szymon Gospodczyk of the ORLEN Team finished in third place driving a Škoda Fabia RS Rally2. In addition to the driver championship, Pirelli has mathematically secured the ERC tire manufacturer title, aided by Max McRae’s fourth-place finish in his Škoda Fabia RS Rally2. The season is scheduled to conclude with the Rally Six Cities North of Portugal in late October.
