On 25 July, a 36‑year‑old motorcyclist and his 30‑year‑old passenger were killed after the rider entered a roundabout near Oradea at an inappropriate speed, lost control, and struck both inner and outer curbs, overturning the bike. Police confirmed both victims died at the scene and opened a criminal case for traffic violations. Investigators are analysing speed, impact marks and road surface to determine the precise circumstances. These successive tragedies have spurred A broader series of accidents unfolded across Romania on 25‑26 July, affecting several counties. Six people, including two children, were injured in Mica; a collision on DJ 703A in Argeș left one passenger dead and two injured; three‑vehicle crashes in Olt and Vrancea caused multiple investigations, traffic disruptions injuries, including children. Additional incidents in Constanța, Timișoara and renewed Bosanci resulted in further injuries, with all drivers testing negative for alcohol. Police investigations and criminal charges for reckless driving are ongoing in each case. The cluster of events has intensified calls from local officials and safety advocates for stricter road‑safety measures targeting motorcyclists, cyclists and other vulnerable road users across Romania.
