Water management and education initiatives have expanded from local educational programs to broader European strategic frameworks. Initially, the Acea Acqua Edu Camp launched a national tour in Italy to promote water resource awareness and sustainability among students through experiential learning and digital platforms. This focus on water literacy has since integrated into larger institutional efforts with the European Commission’s launch of the European Water Academy. Part of the European Water Resilience Strategy, this academy aims to connect research, administration, and industry to address climate change and infrastructure challenges. Italian operator Acea has joined the academy as a ‘First Champion’ and is scheduled to provide specialized training programs, including an Executive Master in Water Management, beginning in January 2027. On a local level, the Acea Acqua Edu Camp continues to implement the ‘Acea Scuola – Educazione Idrica’ project, a three-year initiative established via a memorandum of understanding with the Italian Ministry of Education and Merit. Recent activities included an event in Torre del Greco for students from the Istituto Comprensivo Giovanni Falcone of Volla. This program, which has reached over 500 schools and 30,000 students across Italy, combines environmental education with practical workshops and nautical skills to foster sustainable behaviors and water conservation awareness.
