The European Week of Sport, an initiative by the European Commission under the slogan ‘BeActive’, continues to be implemented through diverse community programs across Europe. In Serbia, activities in Požarevac include table tennis, basketball, handball, motocross, and riding, alongside the ‘Junior 2026’ school championships. In Novi Sad, the designated European Capital of Sport for 2026, celebrations feature sports challenges, urban events, cycling races, and educational panels. Serbian Minister of Sport Zoran Gajić and Olympic Committee President Dejan Tomašević noted the initiative aims to make physical activity a permanent habit by moving sports into schools and local communities. In Croatia, programs range from kindergarten sports and workplace exercises in Mursko Središće to fitness sessions and Kids Athletics in Zadar. In Zadar, activities at the ŠC Višnjik sports center through September 30 include fitness sessions with Mario Mlinarić and presentations of sports schools to encourage youth participation. In Romania, specifically Bihar County, organizations like the ‘Cătunul Verde’ Association are hosting dance, yoga, and running competitions for all ages. In Hungary, the National Association of Student, Collegiate and Leisure Sports is coordinating the 11th edition of the event. A ‘Movement Map’ remains a key tool, helping citizens locate over 500 ~~activities—such as Tai Chi and senior tournaments—to~~ activities to help individuals reach the goal of 150 minutes of weekly physical activity. In Italy, the 2026 edition features the theme ‘#BeActive Your Way. No pressure, no judgement.’ Coordinated by the Department for Sport, the program includes thousands of events nationwide. A multi-sport village is scheduled in Naples at the Villa Comunale from September 25 to 27, while the Serie C football league will support the initiative on September 26 and 27.
