Eurotunnel terminal collision in France

Overview

A collision occurred at the Eurotunnel loading platform in Coquelles, France, involving a minibus and a departing freight shuttle train. The minibus was transporting heavy goods vehicle drivers preparing to board a Le Shuttle service.

At least 19 people were injured in the accident. While some individuals sustained serious injuries requiring helicopter evacuation to a hospital in Lille, authorities confirmed that none of the injuries were considered life-threatening. Local sub-prefect Agathe Cury described the event as the first incident of its kind on a Channel Tunnel loading platform.

The collision caused a temporary suspension of shuttle traffic for approximately 90 minutes, though Eurostar passenger services between London and Paris remained largely unaffected. An investigation has been launched to determine the exact cause of the accident.
