The consumer audio market is seeing an expansion in open-ear wearable technology. In early September 2026, the Indian brand Noise announced the Noise Master Buds Open at the IFA conference in Berlin. These clip-on earbuds feature a sound signature tuned by Bose and are expected to launch in late September with a price of approximately 119 euros. Following this, Bose announced its own the expansion of its open-ear lineup with two new models: the Ultra Open Earbuds (2nd Gen) and the Sport Open Earbuds. Both utilize Bose OpenAudio technology, which transmits sound through the air near the ear to maintain situational awareness without the need for bone conduction or active noise cancellation. The Ultra Open Earbuds (2nd Gen) are a premium update to the 2024 model, priced at $299. They offer extended battery life of up to 9 hours, deeper bass, and improved call quality through ‘SpeechClarity’ AI technology. They also include Bose TrueSpatial for immersive audio and a new ‘Cinema mode’. The redesigned charging case for this model supports wireless charging and can stand upright. This model also supports Snapdragon Sound with aptX Adaptive on compatible Android devices. The Sport Open Earbuds are priced at $199 and are engineered for active use, featuring a soft silicone C-arm design for a secure fit, an IP54 rating for dust and water resistance, and tactile physical buttons. These models offer up to 7 hours of battery life, with the charging case providing an additional 22 hours. Both Bose models support Bluetooth 5.4 and multipoint connectivity. Preorders are scheduled to begin on September 19, began in mid-September, with official availability starting October 1 in regions including the US and Europe.
