The Rovuma LNG project in Mozambique’s Cabo Delgado province continues to advance toward a Final Investment Decision (FID) through significant contract awards and regulatory developments. In September 2026, ExxonMobil leadership met with President Daniel Francisco Chapo in New York to discuss project progress, operational security, and the energy transition. Following these discussions, ExxonMobil and its partners launched a national awareness campaign to inform professionals about employment opportunities and invested $40 million in the Mozambique Technology Center in Maputo to support workforce readiness. To bolster domestic participation, the Mozambican government has approved the Regulation of the Local Content Law and the Statute of the Local Content Authority for the petroleum sector. Supporting these industrialization goals, the Portuguese ISQ and Fundação Joaquim Chissano have formed a strategic partnership for technical capacity building.
