In early August, a fire occurred on the fifth floor of a 20-storey apartment block in the Valmante district of Marseille. The blaze, which required approximately one hundred personnel and thirty vehicles to contain, resulted in one death and one injury due to smoke inhalation. Later in the month, a major fire broke out at the Isabelle residence in Sevran, Seine-Saint-Denis.
