The surge of severe crashes continued through August. In late July, two fatal accidents in Sicily shocked the Giarre area: 27-year-old motorcyclist Sebastiano Portogallo died after falling from a bridge in Mascali, and a 17-year-old passenger was killed when a Fiat Grande Punto struck a wall near Calatabiano. On 2 August, a van lost control on via Cardinal Salotti in Montefiascone, striking parked cars and a retaining wall; the driver was hospitalized but no fatalities occurred. Later that day, a front-side collision near the A32 exit at San Giorgio di Susa involving a Fiat Panda and a motorcycle killed the rider and left the passenger seriously injured. On 5 August, a 33-year-old Albanian motorcyclist, Maksim Sinani, died after a head-on collision with a Volkswagen Tiguan on the SS64 near Pistoia. Earlier, on 29 July, a 27-year-old motorcyclist was critically injured in Ciampino, while a separate crash in Latina claimed a driver’s life. On 31 July, an elderly motorcyclist was seriously injured in Scalea, Calabria. On 8 August, two further serious injuries were recorded near Verucchio and on the Brescia bypass. On 23 August, two more fatalities were reported: a 73-year-old woman died in a head-on collision in Camerano after a Fiat Panda crossed into the opposite lane, and a motorcyclist died following a collision involving a Harley-Davidson on the Cassia Sud highway near Viterbo. On 30 August, a multi-motorcycle collision in Giaglione, Val di Susa, killed two young men, 18-year-old Ivan Perron and 21-year-old Luca Bramard. Preliminary investigations suggest a motorcyclist lost control of a Honda CBR on the Statale 25 del Moncenisio, crossed into the opposite lane at a curve, and struck two other riders. A third motorcyclist sustained non-serious injuries. Police investigations remain active for these incidents.
