Reports indicate separate fatal stabbing incidents in Italy during early September 2026. In Pavia, a 17-year-old Albanian national was arrested for allegedly aiding a 16-year-old suspect in the fatal stabbing of 25-year-old postal worker Gabriele Vaccaro. The attack, which occurred in a parking area in the Cattaneo zone, reportedly stemmed from a conflict over a slice of pizza. The arrested teenager is accused of using his body to shield the attacker and providing clothing to help the perpetrator evade police. In Udine, a 65-year-old man of Moroccan origin, Abdellatif Bensefiyan, was killed in the Sant'Osvaldo district. The victim was reportedly ambushed while returning home with groceries in via Castions di Strada on the evening of September 4. He sustained a severe head wound from a cutting weapon and died shortly after being rushed to the Santa Maria della Misericordia hospital. A screwdriver was found near the body, which witnesses suggest the victim used in an attempt to defend himself. Investigators believe the motive is linked to family and romantic disputes involving the victim’s sister. The suspect, identified as the former partner of the victim’s sister, fled the scene on foot through nearby fields and remains at large following a manhunt by the Carabinieri and police. The victim's sister had reportedly ended her relationship with the suspect approximately one month ago, a decision he refused to accept. Tensions had escalated three days prior to the killing when the suspect allegedly confronted the woman at her workplace and issued death threats. Following the manhunt, authorities have arrested 32-year-old Mohamed Koufi in connection with the Udine murder. Koufi was apprehended by Carabinieri near the Basiliano railway station. During the investigation, police recovered a backpack containing knives and a wig, which are currently being examined for their connection to the crime.
