Fatal traffic accidents involving officials

Overview

Reports indicate separate fatal traffic accidents involving law enforcement or government officials in Southeast Asia.

In Jakarta, Indonesia, a police officer from the Sunda Kelapa Area Police Station died after his motorcycle collided with a turning truck at an intersection in Tanjung Priok. The officer was reportedly traveling to deliver case documents to the North Jakarta District Attorney’s Office at the time of the collision.

In Malaysia, a Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan (JPJ) officer died following a collision on the North-South Expressway near the Senawang Toll Plaza. Preliminary investigations suggest a truck carrying dry food goods lost control and struck the JPJ SUV, which was positioned near another truck being inspected in the emergency lane. A passenger in the SUV sustained severe injuries, and four others were injured in the incident.
