FBI Operation Summer Heat 2.0 enforcement results
Overview
The FBI concluded ‘Operation Summer Heat 2.0’, a nationwide enforcement campaign active from June 1 to September 20, 2026. The initiative involved 56 field offices and various local and tribal partners, resulting in 8,927 arrests and the location of 1,410 child victims.
Law enforcement reported significant increases in seizures compared to the 2025 operation, including a 120 percent increase in weapons and a 63 percent increase in fentanyl. The crackdown also targeted cybercrime; in coordination with international partners, the FBI arrested the alleged leader of the ‘Shiny Hunters’ group and Fouad Eltibrizi, identified as the leader of the ransomware group ‘KillSec’. The latter operation resulted in the seizure of 110 terabytes of data and the dismantling of the group’s digital infrastructure.
