Ferran Torres performance at PSG and Spain

Overview

Ferran Torres has experienced contrasting tactical roles and levels of scrutiny following his €50M transfer from FC Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).

At the club level, Torres has found significant early success under manager Luis Enrique, scoring seven goals in his first six matches. This form led Luis Enrique to designate him as a starter for a Champions League match against his former club, Barcelona, leveraging his knowledge of their defensive positioning.

However, his performance with the Spanish national team has drawn criticism. While performing well at PSG, Spanish media outlets such as SPORT and AS have noted a lack of precision during international play, specifically following a match against England. National team coach Luis de la Fuente has maintained a disciplined approach, opting to start Mikel Oyarzabal to prioritize collective tactical fit over Torres’s individual club momentum.
