19th Festival du film francophone in Angoulême
Leading up to the The 19th edition of the Festival du film francophone in Angoulême, Angoulême is taking place from August 24 to 29, 2026. Prior to the opening, municipal authorities introduced a program providing free tickets to residents aged 65 and over to improve cultural accessibility. This initiative accessibility, which included a specific morning screening of ‘Les héros du Louvre’ on August 26. The festival officially opened with the screening of ‘Ni vue ni connue’ connue’, directed by Marc Fitoussi, featuring actor Fitoussi. The comedy stars Isabelle Huppert as an aspiring extra navigating the French film industry, alongside Sandrine Kiberlain, Diane Kruger, and Emmanuelle Bercot. Actor and director Franck Dubosc is serving as the jury president. Festival co-founder Dominique Besnehard stated noted that the programming focuses on addresses social issues, including issues such as abortion rights, domestic violence, and online racism, while maintaining and the aftermath of the Rwandan genocide. Besnehard emphasized that while the films reflect contemporary society, the selection is based on cinematic quality rather than a political agenda. Other featured presentations include ‘La Frappe’ and ‘Ce qui nous meme a toi’, with various actors participating in photocalls. The event is expected to conclude with a cinematic adaptation of the series ‘Dix pour cent’.
