The impact on player availability has become evident, with several high-profile players withdrawing from national duties for injury or fitness management, such as England’s Declan Rice and Cole Palmer. In the FIFA Men’s World Rankings, Spain currently holds the top position, while Nigeria is ranked 26th. The schedule changes are also impacting domestic leagues, such as the Swiss Super League, which is entering an unusually long three-week hiatus. During this period, the Swiss national team is scheduled to compete in four Nations League matches within eleven days, including away games against North Macedonia and Scotland. For domestic clubs like FC Basel and Grasshoppers, the pause provides a significant training window for recovery and individual development.
