In late September 2026, the Federal Administration for Inspection Affairs in Bosnia and Herzegovina announced a special inspection program scheduled for September 28. This initiative, led by the Federal Market Inspectorate, aims to enforce laws regarding the prevention of money laundering and terrorist financing within the non-financial sector. The program follows a June 2026 Action Plan designed to meet Financial Action Task Force (FATF) standards and targets entities such as gambling organizers, audit firms, real estate brokers, and dealers in precious metals or high-value goods. Non-compliance carries potential fines of up to 200,000 marks. By early October 2026, attention shifted to a dispute regarding the delayed publication of the 2025 budget execution report for the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. While some reports suggested the delay was an attempt to hide a significant deficit before elections, the Office for the Audit of Institutions denied this, instead blaming the government for failing to review and submit the necessary reports. The Office noted that the Federal Ministry of Finance must provide the report to the Government for subsequent submission to Parliament. This administrative delay follows previous years of significant budget deficits, including 536 million KM in 2023 and 131 million KM in 2024. On October 4, 2026, the Federal Institute for MIO/PIO announced the disbursement of September pensions for 473,402 beneficiaries in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The total required for these payments is approximately 372.9 million KM, processed through the Unified Treasury Account. For beneficiaries qualifying before January 1, 2026, the minimum pension is 692.23 KM, while the average independent pension for September is 885.61 KM. For those qualifying after January 1, 2026, the minimum pension calculation base is 752.03 KM.
