Fire-related arrests in Serbia
Overview
Authorities in Serbia have conducted several arrests following incidents of fire that caused public danger and property damage.
In the Knjaževac area, two men were detained for negligent actions. A 65-year-old man confessed to starting a fire near Bovansko Lake while using an angle grinder, which ignited dry grass and damaged forest areas and weekend houses. Separately, a 61-year-old man was arrested for burning dry grass on his property, an act that spread to an adjacent plot and destroyed a building, a vineyard, and agricultural machinery.
In Kraljevo, police arrested a 42-year-old man suspected of intentionally setting waste containers on fire during the early morning hours. One such fire spread to parked vehicles, resulting in the total destruction of one car and damage to another.
