In late August 2026, the Sint Maarten Police (KPSM) conducted two separate operations targeting illegal firearms. On August 26, officers arrested two men following reports of gunfire near L. B. Scott Road, discovering a black pistol during a subsequent residence search. On August 28, police intercepted a scooter traveling from the French Quarter toward Philipsburg, resulting in the arrest of one individual and the seizure of a firearm, while another suspect fled on foot. By September 5, the security situation escalated to an armed home invasion in the Point Pirouette neighborhood. Authorities reported KPSM is investigating an armed residential burglary that occurred on the morning of September 5, 2026. Preliminary reports suggest armed suspects approached entered a residence armed, robbed the occupants, and reportedly fled assaulted the occupants before fleeing the area via the a lagoon. Detectives and forensic personnel are currently investigating conducting an ongoing investigation into the incident.
