The 2026 First Aid World Cup featured international competition among various national Red Cross and Red Crescent societies. During the finals held in Dubai, the Hellenic Red Cross represented Greece and Europe. The five-member team, composed of nursing staff, social workers, and Samaritan-Rescuers, received commendations for their teamwork and training. Jagan Chapagain, Secretary General of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), attended the event to congratulate the delegation. The Saudi Red Crescent Authority also achieved significant results in the competition, securing three global rankings. rankings among 162 teams from 85 national societies. The authority placed first in the Public Awareness Challenge, second in the First Aid and Resuscitation Innovation Challenge, and third in the Scenario-Based First Aid Response Challenge. Their second-place innovation was the ‘Al-Mustajeeb’ application, a tool designed to alert nearby trained volunteers to accident sites to provide immediate assistance before professional teams arrive. Following these achievements, the Saudi Red Crescent Authority has expanded its focus on emergency response and education. To mark World First Aid Day, the authority is conducting awareness workshops and training sessions throughout the Kingdom. Additionally, the authority launched the ‘Esafathon’ hackathon in Riyadh, which aims to develop technical solutions and utilize artificial intelligence to improve the efficiency and response times of emergency services.
