FIS ski jumping schedules and participation updates
Overview
The International Ski Federation (FIS) has outlined the competitive schedules for upcoming ski jumping seasons, including the 2027 Summer Grand Prix and the 2026/2027 World Cup season. The World Cup is set to run from November 20 in Lillehammer, Norway, to March 21 in Planica, featuring 35 men's and over 30 women's competitions, including the debut of the women's Four Hills Tournament.
Regarding participation, Russian ski jumpers may skip the opening stages in Lillehammer and Ruka, Finland. Russian head coach Evgenij Plechov stated the team is evaluating international appointments based on safety and organizational aspects. Representatives, including Vice President Dmitrij Dubrovskij, plan to meet with World Cup director Sandro Pertile in Klingenthal, Germany, in late October. If they bypass early stages, athletes may begin in Titisee-Neustadt, Germany, or Engelberg, Switzerland. To compete, athletes must maintain individual neutral status, sign neutrality declarations, comply with anti-doping requirements, and refrain from using national symbols; team competitions remain prohibited.
In Poland, Eurosport has extended its rights to broadcast the FIS Ski Jumping World Cup, alongside TVN and TTV, maintaining an arrangement in place since the 2021/2022 season. Meanwhile, Polish athlete Kacper Tomasiak is drawing attention following a double gold medal performance at the Polish Championships. While German media identified the 19-year-old as a potential leader in the new U23 category ranking, coach Maciej Maciusiak confirmed that medical examinations showed no injuries to Tomasiak's knees following a recent training fall.
