A maritime tragedy involving seven anglers near One Fathom Bank began when their boat capsized due to heavy winds and rough seas. Following the incident, search and rescue operations expanded toward Lumut, Perak, involving maritime enforcement agencies and Indonesian search and rescue teams. Initially, the body of 43-year-old Mohd. Shahril Abd. Rahman was discovered in the waters of Hutan Melintang. While four members of the group were rescued and treated at Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah, two others, Muhammad Ridzuan Ruhaizat and Raja Mohd. Rozi Raja Mohamud, remained missing during the initial search phase. Subsequent reports confirmed the deaths of Mohd Shahril Abd Rahman and Muhammad Ridzuan Ruhaizat. Selangor police launched an investigation into allegations that a body was spotted at sea during the rescue of the four survivors but was left behind. Police Chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar stated that preliminary witness accounts suggest the spotted body may have belonged to a different individual, noting that identification was not possible at the time due to the condition of the body. Authorities are working to trace the boat owner and crew to complete the investigation. The search concluded with the recovery of the final missing fisherman, 49-year-old Raja Mohd Rozi Raja Mohamad. His body was discovered by local fishermen approximately 4.5 nautical miles southwest of Kuala Kurau, Perak. The recovery marks the end of the CARILAMAT search and rescue operation.
