Following heavy rainfall and flash flooding in Thailand, various government entities and political organizations have initiated relief efforts to assist affected citizens. The Government Housing Bank (GHB) introduced the ‘2026 Flood Victim Assistance Measures’, which include debt moratoriums and interest rate reductions. Depending on the severity of property damage, customers can receive between three and six months of moratoriums at 0% interest. The bank also offered repair loans of up to 300,000 THB and rebuilding loans of up to 2 million THB with preferential rates, while waiving collateral appraisal fees. Simultaneously, the National Housing Authority (NHA) began coordinating urgent relief for approximately 480,000 residents across 57 projects. The NHA reported that 18 projects are facing severe flooding, impacting roughly 232,200 people, while 39 projects are dealing with minor flooding or standing water. To manage the crisis, the NHA established a coordination center, opened a temporary kitchen at Wat Bang Toei, and is distributing survival kits. Expanding these efforts, the Pheu Thai Party established a coordination center at its Bangkok headquarters to collect and distribute essential supplies. The party is utilizing a central kitchen to produce cooked meals and has designated four distribution points in Bangkok: Laksi, Sai Mai, Don Mueang, and Lat Krabang. Krungthai Bank has also launched a relief initiative covering 13 affected areas, including Bangkok, Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, and several provinces in central and eastern Thailand. The bank has distributed 5,500 survival kits, 2,000 meal boxes, and 2,000 bottles of water, while implementing interest rate reductions and debt installment relief for individual and SME customers. relief. Recently, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) opened registration for flood relief payments for residents in Bangkok and 65 provinces for incidents occurring between May 15 and September 30, 2026. Expanding agricultural support, the Rubber Authority of Thailand (RAOT) announced relief measures for rubber farmers in Chanthaburi, Rayong, Chachoengsao, and Surin. The floods have impacted approximately 26,000 rai of plantations and over 10,000 registered farmers. Acting Governor Sansana Suriyothin stated the agency will provide subsidies of up to 3,000 baht per person for natural disaster damages. RAOT is also offering emergency loans of up to 50,000 baht.
