Severe flooding and landslides in Nan province have impacted approximately 3,500 rubber farmers and 35,000 rai of plantation area. Minister Suriya Juangroongkit has announced that compensation rates for farmers, fishery, and livestock workers will double based on updated 2022 regulations, with approximately 80% of agricultural damage already surveyed. To address long-term flood risks, the Ministry of Agriculture is studying the construction of medium and large reservoirs, including a potential 20-billion-baht bypass canal project in Nan. Deputy Prime Minister Yotsanan Wongsawat has been conducting site visits in Tha Wang Pha and Pua districts to monitor mud clearing and the construction of temporary bridges. Educational infrastructure recovery continues with Minister of Education Prasert Jantararuangtong allocating 1 million baht to restore schools across three educational service areas. He has mandated thorough safety assessments, stating that schools will not reopen until there is ‘100%’ certainty regarding the safety of students and staff.
