Foggia Calcio was readmitted to Serie C in July 2026 to fill the vacancy left by Ternana’s revoked affiliation. President Gennaro Casillo described the decision as “the right reward after what we have lived through in the last three months,” launching a “year zero” rebuilding project focused on a multi-year plan and salary-cap compliance. Following reinstatement, the club entered an intensive recruitment period, signing sixteen players over eighteen days to meet coach Gaetano Auteri’s requirements. Despite the initial uncertainty regarding league status, fan engagement has been high, with season ticket subscriptions surpassing 4,300 and eventually approaching 5,000. On 15 August, Foggia made its official season debut in the first qualifying round of the Coppa Italia Serie C against Altamura. Due to disciplinary measures following fan misconduct in Monopoli last season, the match was played behind closed doors at the Zaccheria stadium. Auteri noted the match would serve as a “vital test” for the group. To prepare for the league debut against Crotone on 24 August, the club held an open training session at the Pino Zaccheria stadium. The session, which included technical drills and a small-sided match, featured trialists Quentin Seedorf and Noé Clergé. Following the match against Crotone, the squad has dealt with various player statuses: Coulibaly is training separately due to discomfort, Ngana’s status is pending official confirmation, and Di Pasquale is undergoing injury evaluation.
