A further statement on 31 July reaffirmed the same precautionary orders and highlighted that proceeds continue to be laundered through the purchase of new vehicles for rental fleets. Later on 31 July the Guardia di Finanza’s Economic‑Financial Police unit executed the precautionary measures, confirming that the Bitonto faction performed rapid “spintarella” thefts and that the Cerignola faction stored dismantled parts and supplied them to compliant scrap dealers, feeding a black‑market spare‑parts trade. Investigators also uncovered that part of the illicit proceeds were “auto‑recycled” by buying new cars presented as rental vehicles, further integrating the money into the legal economy.
