Authorities in Vietnam have launched investigations into multiple cases of fraudulent food labeling and intellectual property infringement. In Quảng Ngãi province, police prosecuted Đỗ Thành Tín and Dương Thị Phượng, owners of the social media channel “Già làng Tây Nguyên,” for infringing on the protected “Ngọc Linh” geographical indication. The couple is accused of applying protected labels to ginseng-based products, such as ginseng wine, without authorization. Tín has been placed in temporary detention while Phượng is subject to a travel ban. In a separate investigation involving Lạng Sơn and Hà Nội, authorities are looking into Lê Đức Tùng, Director of Z FOODDELI Co., Ltd. Tùng is accused of using ChatGPT to design counterfeit labels to mimic the “Khâu nhục Thất Khê Lạng Sơn” specialty. Investigations revealed that the company rebranded Sichuan-style pork trotters to capitalize on the popularity of the Lạng Sơn specialty. In September 2026, the facility produced approximately 500 units under the false label and sold 150 via social media before customers began returning the goods due to poor quality. Market management authorities in Lạng Sơn confirmed that no legitimate production facilities for this specific branded product exist within the province. On October 2, 2026, the company ceased production and destroyed its remaining stock. Hanoi police have opened a case file to further clarify the violations.
