In late August 2026, Fleischwaren-Wulff GmbH & Co. KG issued a recall for several varieties of Streichmettwurst, including versions with and without garlic, due to potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination. By mid-September 2026, additional food safety recalls were reported in Germany involving Lidl. SB-Convenience GmbH recalled Metzgerfrisch brand bratwurst products, specifically ‘Frische Grobe Bratwurst’ (400g, expiry 15.09.2026) and ‘Frische Grobe Bratwurst XXL’ (1600g, expiry 13.09.2026), because of potential red plastic fragments that could cause injury to the mouth, throat, esophagus, or gastrointestinal tract. Simultaneously, Victoria Nuts Ltd. recalled ‘Deluxe Erdbeeren in weißer Schokolade’ (120g) sold at Lidl after investigations found pesticide levels of chlorpyrifos exceeding legal EU limits. In both cases, customers are advised to return the items to Lidl for a refund, even without a receipt. On September 17, 2026, Dorfkäserei Geifertshofen AG expanded a recall for multiple cheese varieties, including Bühlertaler Dorfkäse, St. Barbara, and various Geifertshofener specialties. This follows specialties, following the detection of Listeria monocytogenes in a batch of Weinbauernkäse; the company is taking precautionary measures as other products may have been stored in the same ripening cellar. Consumers are advised to return these items Weinbauernkäse. Also on September 17, 2026, new recalls were announced involving major retailers. In Germany, Aldi Nord recalled ‘Meine Metzgerei’ brand cornflake-breaded turkey schnitzels (800g packs, batch 062640, expiry 28 September 2029) due to the point risk of purchase for sharp plastic fragments. In France, Lidl issued a refund. recall in the Grand Est and Bourgogne-Franche-Comté regions for ‘L'Étal du Boucher’ 300g beef mince packs sold between 24 August and 1 September 2026, due to contamination with Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC).
