Food safety recalls in Italy

Overview

The Italian Ministry of Health has issued several food recalls due to safety concerns. On October 5, 2026, the Ministry announced that Cedimar Srl was recalling two lots of swordfish steaks because of elevated mercury levels, labeling the products as “non-edible”.

During the same period, a recall was issued for Tre Mulini brand trofie pasta sold by Eurospin. The recall, prompted by the Ministry of Health, concerns two 1 kg lots (260901 and 260902) produced by P.A.C. – Prodotti Agroalimentari Carbone in Melfi. The recall was initiated due to the “possible presence of metallic foreign bodies”. Consumers were advised not to consume the pasta and to return it to the point of purchase.
