Ford Motor Company has issued a safety recall in the United States for 223,472 F-150 pickup trucks manufactured between the 2023 and 2027 model years. The recall, identified by the NHTSA as 26S69, is due to a defect in the fuel tank mounting and retaining system, specifically involving improperly secured fuel tank straps. If the straps are not properly secured, the fuel tank may shift, leak, or potentially detach from the vehicle while in motion. Such failures present risks of engine shutdown, fire hazards, and increased crash potential. While Ford has noted 16 warranty claims globally regarding this issue, no accidents or injuries have been reported. Ford dealerships will inspect affected vehicles and replace the fuel tank straps at no cost to owners. The company has indicated that owners will be notified via mail starting September 21. Recent reports clarify that the recall affects vehicles manufactured from January 4, 2023, through the present.
