Ford Motor Company has unveiled a one-off Mustang ‘ute’ concept vehicle developed by its Experimental Vehicle Building (EVB) Metal Shop. Based on an S550 Mustang chassis, the custom build features a Shelby-sourced front end, wider fenders, and a modified rear section incorporating a load-bed floor from a Ford Ranger to create a utility-style pickup. The project was designed as a training tool for apprentices to gain hands-on experience in metal fabrication, panel fitting, and concept car construction. Matt Korczyk, manager of Ford’s US Heritage Fleet, noted that the build was intended to showcase the skills of both apprentices and instructors and was not originally intended for public display. Recent details confirm the vehicle was built in Dearborn, Michigan, and features a custom ‘Cyber Orange’ paint job. The transformation involved replacing the rear roof section with a functional bed and tailgate, utilizing body kit cues from a Shelby GT350.
