A major forest fire broke out in the Krystallopiği area of Florina, near the Albanian border, on the afternoon of September 2. Authorities issued The blaze has spread through difficult and inaccessible terrain, prompting an overnight battle by emergency services. Civil Protection issued emergency 112 alert in the early hours of September 3, instructing alerts, ordering residents in Krystallopiği to evacuate preemptively toward the Prespes region using the old road network or the Egnatia Odos highway. Firefighting operations involve 20 have scaled up to include approximately 42 firefighters, a two specialized mountain unit hiking teams from the 8th EMODE, six 13 fire engines, vehicles, and aerial support consisting of one firefighting helicopter and two aircraft. Emergency services remain on high alert to prevent Local authorities, including the blaze from spreading to populated areas. Municipality of Florina and the Region of Western Macedonia, are providing additional assistance through the use of heavy machinery and water tankers.
