Forest fires have emerged in multiple regions of Turkey. On August 19, fires broke out in Sındırgı, Balıkesir, reportedly starting from a truck fire near the Sındırgı-Simav highway, and in the Kızılağıl village area of Bolu. The Sındırgı blaze prompted the establishment of a security corridor due to nearby residential areas, with response efforts involving multiple aircraft and hundreds of personnel. On August 20, a new fire was reported in the Ortakaraören region of the Seydişehir district in Konya. This fire has affected approximately 1 hectare of oak forest, producing dense smoke. Emergency teams are working to control the blaze amidst challenging terrain and wind conditions. Regarding the Sındırgı fire in Balıkesir, the blaze was officially contained by 10:00 AM on August 20 following approximately 21 hours of intensive firefighting. The response included 7 aircraft, 8 helicopters, 31 water tenders, and nearly 300 personnel. Following investigations by the Provincial Gendarmerie Command, three suspects believed to be responsible for the fire have been detained by the Public Prosecutor’s Office, and legal proceedings are ongoing.
