In early July 2026 speculation pointed to a “Gaming Legends” theme for Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4, featuring classic icons such as Sonic and Mega Man. Data‑miners later identified a schedule: Season 3 would end on 19 August, with Season 4 slated for 20 August. On 31 July Epic Games officially announced the “Legends of Video Games” season, confirming a roster that includes Sonic, Dr Eggman, Mega Man, Pac‑Man, Joker (Persona 5) and Tetris motifs, and reaffirmed the late‑August launch. Later that day players uncovered an Easter‑egg in the Wonkeeland area: the Pac‑Man intro music loops, confirming Pac‑Man’s inclusion. The announcement listed the launch for 19 August 2026, slightly earlier than earlier estimates, and hinted at possible implementations such as a Battle Pass skin or a mech‑style outfit, as well as retro‑themed mechanics and map changes. On 5 August 2026 Epic Games provided an updated schedule, stating that Chapter 7 Season 4 will launch on 20 August 2026 with version 42.00, following the live event “Fortnite Unstable” on 15 August and the conclusion of Season 3 on 19 August. The company also previewed Season 6, set to begin 27 September 2026, promising new skins, a transformed Loot Lake and additional cosmetic items. On 6 August 2026 Epic confirmed that the Sprite companions from the current season will continue into Season 4, now dubbed Chapter 7 – Season 4 “Override”. A second‑generation Sprite set will add abilities such as increased ammunition, bee swarms, faster swimming, X‑Ray vision and trash‑can loot, alongside a “Sprite Garden” showcase and five community‑designed Sprite skins chosen from over 20,000 submissions.
