Epic Games has launched the Fortnitemares 2026 event, which runs from October 1 through November 1. The event coincides with the Chapter 7 Season 4 Override and features a significant horror-themed overhaul of the game. A central component of the season is the ‘Five Nights at Freddy’s’ collaboration. Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria has been added as a new Point of Interest on the map, where players can encounter animatronic bosses including Freddy Fazbear, Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy. A unique gameplay mechanic allows players to possess the bodies of these defeated animatronics to navigate the map. The collaboration also includes character skins with ‘Withered’ styles and themed accessories like Chica’s Cupcake. Further horror collaborations have been introduced, including Freddy Krueger from ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’. In the ‘Nightmare Neighborhood’ area, defeating Krueger grants players the ‘Freddy’s Nightmare’ ability, which facilitates teleportation for close-quarters combat. Additional featured franchises include ‘Hazbin Hotel’, ‘Black Clover’, ‘Hollow Knight’, ‘Beetlejuice’, and ‘Stranger Things’. The update introduces new equipment, such as the Scuotiossa and the Bonerattler submachine guns, and the pumpkin pallet shotgun. Gameplay is further enhanced by ‘cursed cartridge Overrides’ that grant abilities like invisibility or damage boosts. Players can also participate in the returning ‘Horde Rush’ limited-time mode and ‘Power Hour’ events to earn rewards, such as Sprites or the free ‘Jack-a-Nap’ skin through specific in-game quests. On October 6, Epic Games released update 1.000.234 to address bugs introduced by the event. This patch included balance adjustments, such as increasing the movement speed of ‘Freddy’s Nightmare’, improving the accuracy of ‘Dual Fiend Hunters’, and reducing damage from ‘Rebecca’s Guns’ to structures. Developers noted that future patches will address issues regarding the ‘Mega Buster’s’ charged shot, weak point visibility, and vehicle keyboard bindings.
