Forza Italia Benevento provincial campaign
Entities: Nino Lombardi · Claudio Cataudo · Province of Benevento
Overview
In early July 2026, Forza Italia’s provincial secretary Francesco Maria Rubano gathered regional and provincial councillors, including candidate Claudio Cataudo, to finalise organisational details for the Benevento provincial election. Cataudo confirmed he had collected the required signatures and presented the party’s program, pledging to turn the province into a “home of the municipalities” by supporting community cooperatives that create jobs, protect cultural and environmental heritage and counter depopulation. Rubano publicly endorsed Cataudo, urging voters to back him on 26 July for a more collaborative provincial administration.
On 24 July, the civic association Cittadinanza Attiva per Ceppaloni announced its endorsement of Mayor Claudio Cataudo. The group highlighted his ability to listen to all citizens, work across differing political visions and address everyday problems, stressing his cooperation with community cooperatives and his intention to move the province away from entrenched power structures. Cittadinanza Attiva called on other local administrators to set aside party affiliations and vote for Cataudo, arguing that his leadership would bring a more community‑focused administration to the province.
After the 26 July poll, Cataudo issued a statement on 27 July thanking the administrators who supported his change proposal, noting that they acted beyond party lines. He said the weighted‑vote system created an uneven competition but underscored the need for an alternative voice for renewal. The election resulted in the re‑election of Nino Lombardi as president of the province. Cataudo pledged to keep working with like‑minded officials to serve the Sannio territory, its municipalities and citizens, urging the new term to be guided solely by provincial needs rather than partisan logic.
