To qualify for this framework, the vehicles must be fully electric, completely automated, and not designed for passenger transport. Furthermore, they must be incapable of being manually driven at speeds exceeding 6 km/h. A distinguishing feature of the French model is that these robots are intended to operate on roadways rather than being restricted to sidewalks, a departure from similar experiments in other countries where robots navigate pedestrian areas. This initiative aims to automate “last-mile” urban ~~logistics, which is often the most complex and costly stage of the delivery process,~~ logistics by providing cleaner, quieter, and more efficient short-distance transport between logistics hubs, businesses, and recipients.
