Fraudulent Turkish asylum claims in Germany

Overview

Investigations have uncovered a scheme where Turkish asylum seekers allegedly use manufactured criminal records to claim political persecution in Germany. Reports indicate that criminal networks and human trafficking organizations facilitate this by paying corrupt prosecutors in Turkey to initiate official proceedings against individuals for “insulting President Erdoğan.”

The process reportedly involves individuals posting critical content on social media to trigger investigations. These official entries are then recorded in the Turkish state justice portal, Uyap, and presented to the German Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) as evidence of state pressure.

Services for these fraudulent records are reportedly marketed on platforms such as TikTok and Telegram, with costs varying based on the level of documentation provided, such as indictments or house searches. While BAMF has previously encountered counterfeit versions of the Uyap website, officials noted that the use of genuine judicial entries is a new development. The agency maintains that all asylum applications undergo individual scrutiny.
