In late August 2026, telecommunications providers in France introduced new 5G mobile service offerings. Free launched the ‘Free 5G+’ plan, priced at €9.99 per month for Freebox Pop subscribers. The plan provides unlimited data on the Free 5G/5G+ network within metropolitan France, along with unlimited calls and SMS/MMS within the country. It also includes unlimited calls to mobile numbers in the USA, Canada, China, and French overseas departments, plus 35 GB of monthly data for use across more than 115 international destinations. La Poste Mobile launched a promotion for new subscriptions made between August 31 and October 4, 2026, offering four months of free service on various no-commitment plans. These plans include data tiers of 50 GB, 130 GB, 250 GB, and 350 GB, all featuring unlimited calls, SMS, and MMS. The 50 GB tier is specifically designated for users under 18 and includes SafeBear cyberbullying protection. While the monthly subscription fee is waived for the first four months, customers must pay for the SIM card (€9.90 for online subscriptions) and any additional paid options. Following the promotional period, the 50 GB and 130 GB plans will cost €10.99 per month, the 250 GB plan will cost €13.99 per month, and the 350 GB plan will cost €19.99 per month. Additionally, SFR introduced a 5G mobile plan on its network providing 250 GB of data for €9.99 per month. This plan includes unlimited calls and SMS within France, and 15 GB of data for use in the European Union and French overseas departments. By early September 2026, infrastructure and performance data indicated significant activity across the sector. According to the DegroupTest barometer, Orange leads in fiber optic performance with an average download speed of 825 Mb/s, followed by Bouygues Telecom at 783 Mb/s, Free at 703 Mb/s, and SFR at 518 Mb/s. Regarding mobile infrastructure, the ANFR reports that France has reached 56,169 authorized 5G sites, with 50,182 currently operational.
