The French Council of the Muslim Faith (CFCM) condemned the plan as ‘extremely irresponsible,’ arguing that such measures stigmatize Muslim women and contribute to existing harassment, intimidation, and physical assaults. The CFCM further argued that using police and gendarmerie to monitor clothing is an inappropriate use of security resources.
