In late July 2026, fuel price tracking services in Greece and Cyprus provided motorists with tools to locate the most economical fueling options. In Cyprus, average prices for unleaded 95, unleaded 98, and diesel were reported at €1.535, €1.604, and €1.663 per litre, respectively, with a price spread of up to €0.27 per litre between the cheapest and most expensive stations. By late August 2026, retail fuel costs in both nations showed significant changes. In Greece, the national average for Unleaded 95 reached approximately €2.04, while Diesel averaged near €2.05, with notable regional spikes such as €2.27 for Unleaded 95 in the Cyclades. In Cyprus, the Consumer Protection Service noted that while prices rose, the increases were lower than the EU-27 average. Specifically, Unleaded 95 rose by 27 cents per litre—which was 2 cents lower than the EU-27 average—and Diesel rose by 36 cents per litre, which was 8 cents lower than the EU-27 average of 44 cents. By the end of August, the European Commission’s weekly oil bulletin ranked Cyprus among the countries with the 6th lowest prices for 95-octane unleaded gasoline in the European Union. The average price for 95-octane gasoline in Cyprus was approximately €1.59 per litre, compared to the EU average of €1.94 per litre. Diesel in Cyprus averaged €1.83 per litre, below the EU average of €2.06 per litre. Within Cyprus, gasoline prices on August 27 ranged from a low of €1.525 to a high of €1.685, while diesel averaged €1.846. By August 31, fuel prices in Cyprus faced significant upward pressure due to rising international crude oil prices exceeding $90 per barrel and global refinery disruptions. Christodoulos Christodoulou, Vice President of the Cyprus Petrol Station Association, warned that diesel could potentially reach €2 per litre by mid-September.
