Brazilian forward Gabriel Martinelli has transferred from Arsenal to the Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal. The deal is valued at approximately 70 million euros (£60 million) and represents the largest sale in Arsenal’s history. Martinelli’s agent, Marcos Casseb, described the move as a consensual decision intended to allow the player to “clear his head a bit” and “change scenery” after seven years in North London. The winger reportedly turned down offers from clubs in the Premier League, Italy, and Germany to join the project in Asia, signing a contract that runs through his age-29 season. The transfer also carries financial implications for Brazilian clubs; Ituano is projected to receive significant funds due to its stake in the player’s economic rights, while Corinthians may receive funds via FIFA’s solidarity mechanism. Currently playing in the Saudi Pro League, Martinelli is under contract with Al-Hilal until 2030. Despite his tenure in Asia, his agent confirmed that the forward “dreams of playing” for Corinthians, the club where he began his career, in the future. Casseb noted that while a return to Brazilian football is a long-term goal, Martinelli must maintain high performance levels to remain in contention for the Brazilian national team.
