Garmin has progressed through several software development stages for its wearable and cycling devices. In late August 2026, the company released software beta version 29.05 for various Forerunner models, including the 965, 265, 165, 955, and 255/255s. This beta was intended to resolve specific issues identified after a previous release. By September 2026, Garmin initiated a major Q3 software rollout for a broader range of hardware, including Venu, vivoactive, Forerunner, and Fenix 8 series devices, as well as Edge cycling computers. This update introduced significant new features such as hands-free voice control via ‘OK, Garmin’, fall detection with location sharing, and ‘Garmin Run Coach’ plans. Specialized updates were also provided for dive computers, indoor XC skiing, and enhanced Enduro ride profiles. On September 9, 2026, Garmin released a new beta system update, version 23.30, specifically for high-end models including the Fenix 8, Fenix 8 Pro, Enduro 3, Fenix E, Quatix 8, and Tactix 8. This update aims to improve voice memo recording performance when connected to Bluetooth headphones. While addressing specific recording issues and minor bugs, the company noted that certain features, such as Dive and ECG, remain temporarily disabled in this beta version. A stable public release date has not been announced.
