The Vigo region is hosting various gastronomic and cultural events throughout October. Local celebrations include the ‘Festa dos Callos’ in the parish of Cabral, which features traditional Galician dishes, and the ‘Festa Furancheira de Parderrubias’ in Salceda de Caselas, an event designed to revive the ‘furancheiro spirit’ through food, music, and wine. Additionally, the Conxemar Fest: Fish & Hits was held in Vigo, merging live music with tastings to promote maritime products ahead of the Conxemar International Fair. Galician Minister of the Sea, Marta Villaverde, noted the event's role in engaging younger generations with the fishing sector by showcasing maritime activities as modern professional opportunities. Expansion of the culinary calendar includes the inaugural ‘Festa da Carne o Caldeiro’ in the Bouzas neighborhood. Scheduled for October 10 and 11 at the Alameda de Eduardo Cabello, the event focuses on a traditional meat and potato dish. Looking toward the winter season, the ‘Sabores del Mundo’ festival is set to return to the Praza do Berbés in the Old Town from December 3, 2026, to January 6, 2027. This 35-day event will feature international cuisine from countries such as Mexico, Argentina, Italy, Portugal, Germany, Venezuela, Japan, Brazil, Peru, and Colombia. This edition will utilize a large enclosed marquee to protect visitors from winter weather while facilitating cultural exchange and music.
