In Jujuy, Argentina, local authorities have initiated efforts to combat gender violence and discrimination through institutional coordination and strategic planning. Initially, the Provincial Council of Women, Gender Equality, and Respect for Diversities organized the ‘Foro Jujuy Igualitario’ to strengthen a territorial assistance network of multidisciplinary teams. Governor Carlos Sadir also met with officials from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) to renew an eight-year partnership focused on youth and violence prevention. This collaboration targets mental health, Comprehensive Sexual Education (ESI), and the prevention of unintended pregnancy, with the REE-Sí initiative slated to expand into the Puna region. To coordinate these efforts, the Ad Honorem Advisory Council held its second meeting with technical support from UN Women Argentina to review progress on the 2026-2028 Strategic Plan. During this session, officials emphasized the necessity of dedicated financial allocations to ensure effective execution across the province. Additionally, the government updated its Protocol of Action for the Prevention and Eradication of Workplace Violence. Through a cooperation agreement between the Secretariat of Labor and Employment and the Ministry of Finance, proven instances of violence by public employees will now result in formal disciplinary sanctions under Law 3161. In September 2026, the Ministry of Health conducted a week dedicated to preventing unintentional adolescent pregnancy, focusing on awareness and contraceptive access. Provincial data indicates a significant decline in adolescent births, dropping from 19% of total births in 2015 to 7.1% in 2025.
