Traffic across German and Austrian motorways continues to be impacted by accidents and planned infrastructure maintenance. In Germany, significant disruptions include a full closure of the A1 motorway in Hamburg for bridge inspections on 52 structures. Planned works also involve bridge reinforcement on the A43 near Bochum, with a full weekend closure reported, and large-scale construction on the A59 near Leverkusen expected to last through early November. Road renovations in Konz-Könen are also slated for completion in November. Notably, repairs at the Schierstein interchange on the A66 have been completed, reopening that route to traffic. Accidents have resulted in serious injuries and fatalities. In Austria, a 68-year-old motorcyclist died following a collision on the L534 near Judenburg, and a 33-year-old motorcyclist was seriously injured in Münzkirchen. A crash involving a car and a truck on the A25 near Wels-Puchberg also resulted in injury. In Germany, a multi-vehicle collision on the A66 near Gründau left one person seriously injured; police are currently searching for a truck driver with Main-Spessart license plates who fled the scene. A subsequent pileup on the A66 near Hanau left four people injured and also involved a hit-and-run truck. On the A57 near Meerbusch and Krefeld, two truck accidents caused significant damage to a concrete barrier and left one person in critical condition. Other incidents include a BMW overturning on the A66 near Schlüchtern and Schlüchtern, a heavy transporter overturning on the A33 near Paderborn, which caused severe injuries. and a collision in Moers between two cars that left a 19-year-old in life-threatening condition.
