German automobile clubs, including ADAC, AvD, and ACV, have released testing results for winter and all-season tires, revealing significant performance disparities. In winter tire testing for the 185/65 R 15 size, Continental and Michelin were the only brands to receive a ‘good’ rating. The Continental Winter-Contact TS 870 was identified as the top performer, followed by the Michelin Alpin 7. Notably, nine of the 16 models tested by ADAC were not recommended due to performance gaps, specifically regarding wet braking, which testers identified as a critical safety concern. While premium brands led, the Chinese brand Linglong achieved a notable fourth-place finish with its Sport Master Winter model, matching the score of the third-place Hankook Winter i*cept RS3. Some established brands, such as Goodyear and Bridgestone, saw lower rankings, which experts attributed to limited versatility or design cost-saving measures in smaller sizes. In all-season tire testing, the Continental AllSeasonContact 2 has consistently led various tests for its balanced performance and mileage. In the 225/50 R 17 size, it was followed by the Bridgestone Turanza All Season 6 and the Pirelli Cinturato All Season SF 3. In a separate evaluation of 10 models conducted by ACV in collaboration with ARBÖ and GTÜ, the Pirelli Cinturato Allseason SF3 emerged as the top performer, scoring 411 out of 450 points across dry, wet, and snowy surfaces. Further AvD testing in the 225/45 R 17 winter tire category placed the Pirelli Cinturato Winter 3 in first place, closely followed by the Michelin Alpin 7, with Pirelli noted for superior aquaplaning resistance. Recent industry analysis indicates a growing trend in all-season tire adoption due to milder winters and convenience.
